Day of Caring is a United Way initiative to put people into action working collectively to make a difference in our community. This year's Day of Caring will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026 and will focus on Spring Cleaning projects around our county. United Way will be organizing volunteers to assist with spring cleaning projects and yard work for seniors in our community. United Way will reach out with your assigned senior details prior to the day of the event.

Volunteering with Habitat allows you to contribute directly to building homes for families in need. By donating your time, you’re helping provide safe, affordable housing for people who might otherwise not have access to it. The physical work you do can have a lasting, visible impact on the community.

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to our community? The ACE Mentoring Program is seeking caring adults to mentor students at Fremont Middle School (grades 6–8) and Fremont Ross High School (grades 9–12). Mentoring requires just 30–45 minutes once a week during the school day, yet the impact lasts a lifetime. As a mentor, you’ll provide encouragement, support, and guidance to help students succeed both in school and in life. To get started, you’ll complete a Match-Up Profile Form and Application, followed by FBI and BCI fingerprinting through Fremont City Schools at no cost to you. After that, you’ll attend a mentor training with the ACE Mentoring Program Coordinator to review program expectations and resources. It’s a small commitment with a big reward—helping shape the future of our students and our community.

Manage an existing group or start a new one—our projects involve companies, service clubs, professional associations, church groups and many other kinds of organizations. Group volunteers are needed at different stages throughout the build process. Contact us today if your group is looking for a way to give back to the community. 

CASA volunteers are provided training and support to advocate for children who's families are involved with a case with childrens services.  The volunteer will investigate the circumstances in the child's life and get to know the child well enough to make formal recommendations to the judge on what is in the childs best interest.  The advocate will remain with the child throughtout the life of the children's services case.

Provide a meal for residents at the Liberty Center.  You may cook a meal at home or with a group of friends and deliver it to the Liberty Center.  If you aren't into cooking you may order a meal and deliver it or have it delivered to the Liberty Center. This may be done on an ongoing schedule once a month or just one time.  This MUST be coordinated with our Office Manager, Mary.  She will let you know how many people to prepare for and find a day that works for you.  She will answer any questions you have.

Seeking friendly faces to tend to our reception area at the Fremont Senior Center. Duties include greeting guests, answering phones, giving center tours, and helping guests make reservations for lunch and activities. You can volunteer for any number of hours during the day from 8 am-4 pm Monday through Thursday.

The YMCA of Sandusky County is always looking to recruit new and on-going Bingo volunteers. Bingo is held at the YMCA every Saturday. Duties include selling pull tab tickets, program sheets and other bingo related tasks. Standing and walking is required at most times during the duration of the Bingo event. 

Seeking friendly faces to assist with meal delivery to homebound seniors. 

Duties include:

Load food carriers and other food products into vehicle

Transport and deliver meals to homebound participants and return carriers to designated location

Maintain and operate vehicles in compliance with all traffic and safety laws

Record first and last delivery times and collect other required documentation of daily route

Attend trainings required to fulfill these essential duties

Maintain a safe driving record by driving lawfully and prudently with your personal safety in mind
